Does Castelli run small? Mostly yes, though not in every range, and Castelli’s own chart tells you what to do about it. This guide covers the official Castelli size chart, a calculator built on it, what reviewers found in each range, and which Castelli sizes you can actually buy at the 3 UK shops we read.

Castelli size chart
Castelli publishes one body measurement per size: chest and waist for tops, hips for bottoms. In the tables below, each size covers everything above the size below it, up to its own figure, because Castelli tells you to size up when you fall between two.

Castelli also publishes an inseam figure for bottoms, rising 1cm per size (81–87cm for men, 75–79cm for women). It publishes no height figure. Women’s sizes stop at XL.
Does Castelli run small?
For the race ranges, reviewers mostly say yes:
As with other Castelli kit I've used, the shorts come up on the smaller side, with a medium feeling closer to most brands' smalls. It does tally with the size guide, though.
Sizing comes up a little small, so worth considering going up one size
The newer Espresso range is where opinions split:
Castelli has always been known for its "Italian sizing"—very snug, often requiring you to size up— but with the Espresso kit, the sizing seems more generous.
I often find it’s in the jerseys that Castelli can sometimes require a sizing up, but the shorts ran true to size with other brands.
If you're between sizes, I'd say go up. I'd often fit medium shorts, but the medium Espresso 2 would have been too small.
And one recent Entrata test found no difference at all:
Traditionally seen as coming up small when it comes to sizing, the Medium pair I had on test were true to size and in line with other size medium shorts that I've tested.
Which Castelli sizes are in stock
Across all Castelli kit, XL is the easiest size to find (38% in stock) and S the hardest (25%). For comparison, 65% of Endura’s listed sizes are in stock, against 32% for Castelli. Wheelbase has 81% of its Castelli sizes in stock; Tredz has 25%.

How we got these numbers
We read each shop’s own product listings, size by size, and this page was rebuilt from that read on 17 September 2026. A price counts only if it is in pounds and the shop has not marked that size sold out. Where a shop publishes no stock at all, we show its price but leave it out of every in-stock percentage rather than guess. We never convert a euro or dollar price: import VAT and duty make those numbers wrong in your favour on paper and against you at the door.
