Entrata: the budget benchmark
From £79 today. Testers rate the Entrata 2 highly for the money, with one limit:
The Castelli Entrata 2 bib shorts are possibly the best performing pair of shorts I've tested for under £100, with a good quality chamois and great performance in warmer conditions.
Where they start to fall down is partly the lack of flatlock seams, and also on rides over 3 hours, where the chamois performance is not as strong.
Competizione: one step up
From £93 today.
Sitting one rung up from the brand’s entry-level Entrata short at £99.99/$109.99/€89.95/AU$159, the Competizione differs in that it’s slightly more performance-oriented in trying to balance comfort with aerodynamics.
Espresso: the newer all-rounder
From £90 today. Reviewers disagree on how the Espresso fits compared with Castelli’s traditional race cut:
Castelli has always been known for its "Italian sizing"—very snug, often requiring you to size up— but with the Espresso kit, the sizing seems more generous.
The Espresso bib shorts fit near-perfectly, with a close, form-fitting feel. I have plenty of experience wearing other Castelli bib shorts and found the sizing and fit to be identical.
Free Aero: the race short
From £89 today. Reviewers rank it among the best shorts made:
Castelli continues to make one of the best bib shorts on the market. It's aero optimised and race-focused and the chamois is better than the competition.
Overall, the Free Aero RC bib shorts put in an excellent performance. The pad is exceptionally good, the comfort elsewhere is similarly impressive, and the price… well, it reflects the high quality.

If you're between sizes, I'd say go up. I'd often fit medium shorts, but the medium Espresso 2 would have been too small.
